TIMOTHEA RATCHFORD
ENL Teacher
Timothea Ratchford was born and raised just outside of Cooperstown, NY. Although initially attending Hartwick College for elementary education she found an interest in the social sciences and completed a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, never fully letting go of her passion for teaching.
In 2009, Timothea moved to the Upper East Side of NYC and has lived in the community ever since. Once in Manhattan, she began a career in banking and financial services. In 2014, she became a member of the PS 527 family when her eldest daughter began Kindergarten at the school. The dedication of the staff and the inclusive culture of the school reignited Timothea’s passion for education and she made the decision to change careers, completing her Master’s Degree in Childhood Education at Hunter College.
In addition to teaching, Timothea loves exploring the city (especially by bike), reading, art, and travel. She is thrilled to be rejoining the PS 527 family, this time as a teacher, so that she can give other families the educational experience that was so meaningful to her own.
