Whether you have a lot of time to give, or just a little, there is a role for you!

Our goal is to get as many people involved with the PS 527 PTA as possible - we want everyone to contribute in a way that makes sense to them. It all results in a positive school environment that our children need and deserve.

Below you will find many opportunities to support the PTA in a way that makes sense for your time and talent. ROLE : Fall Festival Volunteer

DESCRIPTION: Please sign up for a 30- to 60-minute time slot at our 3rd Annual Fall Festival! We are looking for Face Painters, Snack Table Volunteers and set-up/break-down help!

ROLE : Executive Board - Member at Large Positions (2)

DESCRIPTION: We are looking for two NEW PS 527 Families to join our Executive Board as a Member at Large beginning in October 2023. Please email ptapresidents@ps527.org to learn more and familiarize yourself with the role here.

Time Commitment/Location: 2 - 5 hours/month. Must attend monthly PTA Executive Board Meetings and General Meetings. Virtual and in-person (at school).

ROLE: Audit Committee

DESCRIPTION: The audit committee is a team of 2-3 individuals who will examine the PS 527 PTA's financial records and transactions for the current school year to ensure compliance with the PTA Bylaws. The PTA Treasurers will schedule a kick-off meeting and supply you with the necessary documentation and the Audit Committee must present their findings at the June 2024 PTA General Meeting. Time Commitment/Location: 5 - 10 hours, total, between March 2024 and June 2024. In-person (at school).

ROLE: Nominating Committee

DESCRIPTION: The nominating committee is a team of 3 - 5 individuals who will conduct the PTA Executive Board and SLT election process for the forthcoming school year. They will canvass the PS 527 PTA Membership from March through May for all eligible candidates in a way that maximizes participation, prepare election notices, and conduct the election in June 2024. Time Commitment/Location: 10 - 15 hours from March to June 2024. In-person, at home, at school.

ROLE: Annual Benefit Committee

DESCRIPTION: This group of volunteers spearheads the largest fundraising event of the school year. We will need event co-chairs and sub-committee leads, including Donations, Marketing, Decor, Food & Beverage and Data. We will also need many (many, many) volunteers on the various sub-committees. Please fill out this form if you are interested in a co-chair, sub-committee chair, or volunteer position.

Time Commitment/Location: Various. The Annual Benefit will be held on April 13, 2024.

ROLE: PTA Directory Chair (Position is Filled)

DESCRIPTION: This position has been filled for the 2023-24 School Year. This volunteer will update our parent directory and class/sibling lists as families enter the PS 527 school community. This volunteer will work with the Parent Coordinator to solicit the most up-to-date school lists and ensure all families will receive timely information from the PTA. Time Commitment/Location: Initial commitment > 5 hours in September, Ongoing commitment < 1 hour/week. Can be done from home.

ROLE: Alumni Outreach Chair (Position is Filled)

DESCRIPTION: This position has been filled for the 2023-24 School Year. This volunteer will create and maintain a directory of PS 527 Alumni, and be the main point of contact for alumni volunteer opportunities and potential gatherings. Please email ptapresidents@ps527.org to express your interest.

ROLE: Marketing Team

DESCRIPTION: This group of 2 - 3 volunteers will design event flyers and corresponding newsletter images for PTA Communications. Flyers will need two versions (Black & White for printing/backpacking and full-color for digital use). Volunteers will work closely with event co-chairs on content. Time Commitment/Location: 1 - 2 hours/week. Can be done from home.

ROLE: Class Parent Liaison (Position is Filled)

DESCRIPTION: This volunteer will liaise between the PTA and the Class Parents to ensure information regarding PTA and School efforts/events is disseminated consistently across the entire parent body. This volunteer will also collect monetary contributions from Class Parents to provide holiday gifts for the non-teaching staff at PS 527. Finally, he or she will support Class Parents in the planning of grade-wide social events. Please email ptapresidents@ps527.org to express your interest.

Time Commitment/Location: 2 - 4 hours/month, with increased commitment around holiday gifting. Can be done from home.

ROLE: PS 527 Panda (Position is Filled)

DESCRIPTION: This position has been filled for the 2023-24 School Year but we are looking for an alternate. This volunteer will serve as the PS 527 mascot at various events, including the Fall Festival and Staff Appreciation Week. Please email ptapresidents@ps527.org to express your interest.

Time Commitment/Location: 5 - 10 hours over the school year. In-Person, often during working hours.

ROLE: General Volunteer

DESCRIPTION: We always need volunteers on-hand for our many events. Please fill out this form if you would like to sign up as a general volunteer.
