NICOLE MCDONAGH

Third grade teacher

Nicole grew up in Pearl River, NY. She has loved working with children since a young age when she was a babysitter and summer camp counselor. Nicole has a passion for fostering confidence, independence and creativity within each child! She loves building a connection with each student and motivating and inspiring their unique interests and abilities every day. When she’s not teaching or spending time with family and friends, Nicole loves going on all types of adventures. She enjoys running, traveling, and reading a good book!

Nicole attended undergrad at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, where she received her Childhood Education and Special Education certifications. At Marist, Nicole ran on the track & field team. After she graduated in 2013, Nicole attended graduate school at Lehman College where she received an Early Childhood education certification and a Masters Degree in Literacy. She was also trained in Wilson Language which helped her gain skills and tools to help her students become fluent, independent readers.

Nicole began her teaching career at P.S. 37 in the Bronx, where she taught Kindergarten and 1st grade. She was a member of the Instructional Leadership Team, which identifies instructional priorities and implements school wide teaching and learning practices. She also taught 5th grade at P.S. 40 in Gramercy Park where she had the opportunity to expand and evolve her teaching practices to the upper elementary grades. Throughout her experiences, Nicole had the privilege to teach and inspire children of different ages, cultures, abilities, and disabilities.

Nicole is so excited to join the P.S. 527 community and the 3rd grade team!! She is looking forward to collaborating with colleagues, partnering with parents, and most importantly, getting to know her new 3rd grade students!
