JENNIFER LUDWIG

PARENT COORDINATOR

Jennifer Ludwig is the inaugural Parent Coordinator at PS 527. A PS 527 parent herself, Jennifer and her family have been a part of the school since its second year of existence. Jennifer has had a passion for education for as long as she can remember. She received her BA from UCLA, where she majored in Communication Studies and minored in Education Studies. Following this, she received her MSW from the Columbia University School of Social Work, where her concentration was Advanced Clinical Social Work Practice and her field of practice was School-Based and School-Linked Services.

Following a job at the Riverdale YM-YWHA, Jennifer began working for the DOE in 2002 as a School Social Worker at P.S. 86 in the Bronx. She worked there for 6+ years, providing both individual and small group counseling services to students until leaving to have her daughter in 2008. After a child care leave, Jennifer returned to P.S. 86 part-time for the 2013-14 school year.

Jennifer's strong belief in the school’s mission combined with her strong belief in the home-school connection has made her an asset to PS 527 as the Parent Coordinator. In addition, she uses her school social work background to assist her in her role. As a parent at the school, she has been given many opportunities to involve herself and her family in her daughter’s education and she loves to help give that same opportunity to other families. Most notably, in addition to helping with various committees and events at the school, Jennifer played an active role in helping to launch the school’s library which opened in the fall of 2014. In addition, she served as the Co-Secretary of the school’s Executive Board during the 2014-15 school year.
