PS 527 launched enVision Math in the 2019-2020 school year. This program, fully funded and supported by the NYC Department of Education (as opposed to schools needing to fund the materials from their own budgets), has been approved by the state of NY and designed to address the Common Core Standards.

enVision lessons start with Problem-Based Learning, where students must think critically about a real-world math problem, evaluate options, collaborate, and present solutions. This is followed by Visual Learning to solidify the underlying math concepts.

enVision contains many interactive activities that involve technology, collaborative learning, and enrichment. Teachers are able to provide differentiated instruction during the lesson to maximize the success of all learners.

In addition, students participate in math talks and performance tasks to more fully engage with numbers and mathematics and see how they are integrated in our lives.
