TIMOTHY BORECKY

MUSIC TEACHER

Tim has been living his dream, teaching music in NYC since 2008. In 2015, he began building PS 527's music program which has included band, chorus, and general music classes. Tim utilizes instruments and technology in the classroom to help students realize their musical ideas and foster experimentation and creativity. Tim believes the skills developed in contemporary music ensembles are invaluable and strives to help students communicate and collaborate as musicians.

Tim received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and his Master’s in Music Education from Lehman College. When he’s not teaching, Tim is actively performing and studying music. He is an electric bass player primarily but plays the upright bass, guitar, and piano as secondary instruments. He continues to hone his craft, performing and recording for numerous singer-songwriters, event bands, and his own creative endeavors.

Tim lives in Washington Heights with his wife and twin sons, and is thrilled to be a part of the amazing community of family, students, and staff that is PS 527.
