Sara grew up in Millburn, New Jersey. Throughout middle school, high school, and college, Sara babysat and tutored children. She always loved being around children and decided to pursue a career in education.

Sara loves to sing. A musician at heart, she decided to study Music Education at Montclair State University, where she received her B.A. and teaching certification. She student taught in Pequannock, New Jersey, and gained experience teaching elementary and middle school piano methods, theory classes, and choir.

Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, Sara moved to New York City and started her teaching career as an assistant, and later, head teacher at a charter school in Harlem. During this time, Sara enjoyed teaching reading, writing, math, and social studies.

In 2012, Sara earned her dual Master’s in Elementary General Education and Special Education from Touro College in Manhattan. She will always love her music, but she wanted to make a career out of her passion for academics in the classroom.

Sara joined the PS527 community as a 2nd grade teacher in September 2013. Now, she happily teaches 3rd grade and thoroughly enjoys the exciting curriculum she gets to plan. She has learned so much from her incredible colleagues and students over the years and looks forward to another wonderful year!
